Sparkle drew much of its inspiration from Macromedia Flash for its Drawing Tools and Image support. 3D drawing and animation is one area where Microsoft sparkle outsmart Macromedia Flash. Sparkle also gives developers the full control of programming languages such as Csharp to add interactivity to their solutions.
But Sparkle is designed mainly to work with Windows Longhorn which won't be available until late 2006. And this means it would take more time before people actually get to see Windows Vista.
That gives Macromedia enough time to improve its Flash. The lightweight Flash player is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, handheld devices and cellular phones. And the Player is free while Sparkle require users to upgrade to vista to view it.
Sparkle is very promising technology but it will take years before we start seeing Sparkle applications. If Adobe incroporates 3D features into Macromedia Flash 9, Sparkle will soon find a compition after its release.
