No press release(yet) from Microsoft on this one. But it looks like that Microsoft is about to acquire remote-sensing vendor Vexcel Corp. for an undisclosed sum. The Vexcel purchase is expected to tie in with Microsoft's Live search and mapping technologies in some way.
Vexcel Founded in 1985, with ongoing leadership from President and CEO, John Curlander, Vexcel is now a multi-national organization with headquarters in Boulder, Colorado and offices in Austria, Canada and the United Kingdom.
The products and services originating from these offices span three technical categories:

Satellite Ground Systems
Vexcel has established itself as a world leader in these multiple remote sensing technologies, with a staff of engineers, scientists, and technicians who are highly qualified in their respective fields and bring a depth of experience to a wide variety of products and projects.
