Microsoft Acquires AssetMatrix, AssetMetrix helps businesses manage their fleet of PCs and software. Other asset tracking companies like EasyVista, Centennial, GASP and WebCensus may soon find the a tough competetion from Microsoft after acquiring AssetMatrix.

AssetMatrix creates software inventory for audit and fixed asset tracking reports for organizations.

Microsoft already has Microsoft Software Inventory Analyzer tool in its belt it is used to generate an inventory of Microsoft products installed on users local computers. But the Microsoft Software Inventory Analyzer will locate only Microsoft products while AssetMatrix will help to track even non-Microsoft products installed on user computers and networks.

AssetMetrix does software inventory, license management, license expiration tracking, license compliance, alerts and warnings and automatic updates to inventory database when a new software is installed or removed for organizations with less than 50 to over 5000 employees.

AssetMetrix identifies the product IDs, application types, and number of users have software installed on every Windows and Linux computer and WindowsCE device in a organization. The corporate wide baseline inventory can be created by distributing AssetAgents to your end users via Email, LAN or Disk based audits.
