Here are the some of the comments made at Skype Mac Blog:
"Inside the broken 1.4.0.39 package there is a Video icon (similar to the windows one), and a folder named “VideoPreferences.nib”!” - carlosgarzi
“So Skype posted a borked .39 version–it could happen to anyone I suppose BUT now it is almost 48 hours since the broken .dmg was pulled and you still haven’t replaced it with a good version!” - nekton23
“I figured it would be less than a day until the new, fixed build was out, but I’m dying here waiting…can you give us an indication of how much longer it’s likely to be (i.e. days, weeks, months)?” - efeingold
“Help! After installing the .39 UB Rosetta has completley stopped working! I can’t open any PPC apps” - kroccamen
Even after eBay’s purchase of Skype, it seems that Skype still finds a way to mess up their customer service (not releasing an immediate fix) and apparently their development/release process (the fact that they released a defunct version in the first place).
Stay tuned… Will we see Skype for Mac Video features or a new welcome screen? Or, even worse, will it be Skype for Mac INTEL Video only?
