Microsoft has promised that its Vista OS would be available in early 2007, Gartner analysts including Michael A. Silver believe that Windows Vista is unlikely to be Shippied Before second quarter of 2007. Here's is the recently published Gartner document on Windows Vista:

Microsoft's track record is clear; it consistently misses target dates for major operating system releases. We don't expect broad availability of Windows Vista until at least 2Q07, which is nine to 12 months after Beta 2.
