The Search giant Google has launched an online payments system Google Checkout which aims to compete with auction giant eBay. To open an Google Checkout account all you need a credit card.

To start with all you do is a product search on Google to find stores that accept Google Checkout and look for shopping cart icon in the sponsored links on the right side of the page.

Also you can visit the merchants website to do shopping and choose Google checkout as the method of payment doing checkout. Google handle the transaction and you are not required to provide your credit card information to the merchant again.

When a customers clicks on the advertisers link,
they are given the choice to choose either
traditional payment methods or Google Checkout.
The Great advantages of using Google to handle payments are:
* You can shop multiple online stores with your single Google Account that will work with all store that supports Google checkout.
* You can keep track of all your transcations in one place with Google Account.
Google commission is 2.2% plus $.30 per transaction. For every dollar they spend on advertising, merchants will get $10 off the cost of processing orders they receive.

If an item of the merchants website is not eligible for Google checkout payment, the icon will be greyed out and cannot be clicked.
In order to become Checkout affilliate you need the following things:
* The federal tax ID number (or a credit card and an authorized Social Security number) for your business.
* A copy of your return, cancellation, and shipping policies.
* A shopping cart on your business website to accept online orders.
