Sony Digital Camera with GPS

Posted by Harsha

Sony has developed Digital Camera with GPS(Global Positioning System) unit that can be used to add location information to digital pictures.

The 12channel GPS unit is 3½ inches long, weighs two ounces, and is sold with a carabineer to easily attach to a backpack or a belt loop.

Every 15 seconds the GPS records the current location and the time, thus building up a record of exactly where the user was during the day. Later that data can be mapped with the time stamp on the digital photos to find out where the picture was actually taken.

"Whether you are traveling to the Seven Wonders of the World, or just wondering where to buy your next house, our new GPS device can track your journey," said David Johns, product manager for digital camera accessories at Sony Electronics. "Adding a geographic context to your digital images helps organize and make use of your photos in entirely new ways."

Sony supplies software to do the data matching and has upgraded its Motion Picture Browser software to link in with Google Maps. The GPS unit runs for about 10 hours on an AA battery and the units builtin 31MB memory can store about 15 days worth of GPS data. The GPS-CS1 will be launched in September in the US and Japan, and will cost around $150. Details on a European launch have not yet been announced.

Adobe InDesign CS2: Update Released

Posted by Harsha

Adobe recently posted an update for InDesign CS2.

InDesign CS2 software provides key fixes in the areas of indexing, launch issues, transparency, shortcuts, text and fonts, scripting, inline graphics, InDesign Interchange (INX) files, German hyphenation, XML, library files, performance, QuickTime 7.x support, printing, SING glyphlets, EPS export, text import, and more.

This update also removes a change that was included as part of the InDesign CS2 4.0.3 public update: After you enlarge the canvas size of an image in Adobe Photoshop, the linked image does not enlarge or scale correctly in Adobe InDesign CS2. This change resulted in two new issues that users reported: after changing the canvas size of an image in Adobe Photoshop, the image dimensions are then unexpectedly scaled in InDesign CS2 version 4.0.3 on relink or update of the image link, and JPEG images saved from Photoshop always place at 72ppi. These two new issues no longer occur in the InDesign CS2 4.0.4 update.

This installer also includes fixes from the original InDesign CS2 4.0.3, 4.0.2, and 4.0.1 updates and The update is available as a 41MB download.

Posted by Harsha

Apple has teamed up with Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Mazda to deliver seamless iPod integration across the majority of their brands and models, making it easy for iPod users to enjoy and control their iPods high quality sound through their cars stereo system.

Ford and General Motors will feature iPod integration in the majority of their 2007 models in the US beginning later this year, while Mazdas entire global 2007 lineup of cars and SUVs will offer iPod connectivity. iPod offerings for Ford, General Motors and Mazda provide drivers with outstanding sound quality while charging the iPod, while conveniently storing the iPod in the glove compartment. Seamless iPod integration also allows drivers to use their car’s multifunction controls to select their music using artist, album, playlist or shuffle songs, as well as to easily skip between tracks and playlists.

"We are delighted that Ford, General Motors and Mazda will support iPod connectivity in nearly all of their new models," said Greg Joswiak, Apples vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing. "Now more than 70 percent of 2007-model US automobiles will offer iPod integration, with General Motors alone making it available on all 56 of its models, representing millions of cars and trucks"
