Microsoft Soapbox:YouTube Rival From Microsoft

Microsoft is aiming on capitalise on the user generated video phenomenon by launching an online service to compete with YouTube, Google and Yahoo.

Microsoft SoapboxSoapbox will be soon be tested on Tuesday and will launched within six months as part of current service, MSN Video.

"It is really early days in online video; this is still act one," said MSNs Rob Bennett. YouTube had 34 million visitors last month, according to Nielsen/NetRatings, while MSN Video attracts about 12m.

"We are definitely not blind to the fact that YouTube has a big lead right now," said Mr Bennett, general manager of MSNs entertainment and video services.


The video sharing market has proved increasingly popular with users in the last 12 months with services such as YouTube crossing over into mainstream success.

Yahoo! today announced the launch of an integrated marketing campaign that highlights the new Yahoo! home page and other recently launched services, including the new Yahoo! Mail beta and Yahoo! Answers. In addition, the campaign includes a Dunkin' Donuts coffee giveaway for visitors to Yahoo.com on Friday, September 22.

Zoho QuickRead:Read Online Word Documents

Zoho have added a new important feature to their online office suite today a plugin known as QuickRead. It is available as a plugin for Firefox and IE on Zoho Writer and will be on their spreadsheet and presentation applications soon as well.

Users can use this plugin to open online Microsoft Word documents directly in the browser without first downloading it to their computer and opening it with a MS Office application. Instead, users can simply right click on the online link and choose "Open with Zoho Writer". For a more detailed see Zoho blog post about it.

You can also edit the online document or share it with friends or even post contents to the blog. Another advantage is you can convert .DOC, .XLS or .PPT files to PDF file for free Zoho support printing to PDF for free.
